Beginner’s Guide to Bingo

Bingo is certainly one of the easiest games on the planet; all you need are bingo cards and chips, the ability to know the numbers, fast eyes and a prize, even young ones can play it.

Targets of the Game:
The object of the game is to accomplished a certain pattern agreed before the game with the lowest number of calls. Before the game, the pattern to be formed is first determined, it can either be a full vertical, a diagonal, an X, or a box, or or what is called a block out, where all the numbers in the card should be filled.

Bingo Card
The card Bingo uses has the letters B, I, N, G and O across the top showing the five columns. Each of the column has a set of numbers ranging from 1 to 75.

The B column has the numbers from 1-15, the I column has numbers, 16-30, 31-45 are the numbers for the N column, the G column has numbers from 46 to 60, while column O has numbers from 61 – 75. Each column Each of the column may only have five numbers from their respective range.

With the numbers, the cards forms a grid which the middle, the 3rd row of column N is labeled free, this box need not be filled.

The Game Proper
First you need a Bingo card, which you can have more than one, depending on your labeling ability.

The game starts when the host tells everyone the pattern to be formed.

Listen for the first ball, the host will call out a letter, either B, I, N, G or O, for the column and then a number under that particular letter, e.g. O-70.

Look for this number in your card and label it immediately.

The host continues to announce numbers until someone finishes than pattern required.

The person with a finished pattern should shout BINGO immediately! To inform everyone that she has finished the pattern and has won the game.

The host will then verify all the numbers and their position in your card, either by taking your card, or by you shouting out the numbers that made you form the pattern.

Another bingo game may follow after another, using a same or another pattern, with the same or another kind of prize.

After a Bingo, the prize is given to the winner.

Tips
Don’t yell BINGO if you haven’t completed a pattern yet, this halts the games and annoying for others.
